Lucas McClean

Hey, I'm Lucas! I'm currently studying Computer Science at UCF.

My interest in programming began in middle school, but for a long time I thought that it was beyond me. Up until my junior year of high school, I was set on pursuing a career in aeropace. That year, though, I had an opportunity to work on a video game with some friends. That experience showed me that it wasn't beyond me; I could pursue software as a career.

That summer and the following year of high school, I dove into all kinds of development. I started with video games but quickly shifted to web development. I spent a lot of time learning the fundamentals of JS, CSS, and HTML, but eventually became interested in learning backend. From there, I picked up Go and discovered that I really enjoyed working on the logic of these applications.

It was around the time that I was learning Go that I really realized that you can learn just about anything in software by just diving in and enjoying the process. From that point onward I've tried to learn something new daily.
